What is going on with LivingEars

You may have noticed very few new updates on the site lately. I’ve also been absent from my show on UtahFM for about 2 months now. I think I spent so much time and energy building my year end lists that I got burned out on music. I did post my track list and got good response but somewhere right around then I lost my ability to get excited and enjoy what I was doing with music. I never did post my albums list. Maybe the people who say rating and criticizing art is negative are right. But I feel like I know music, I love to share it and I hope that you are introduced to new bands from time to time. I’m not always the first to break a band but that was never really the intention of this site. It was always supposed to be a way to share the music I was into with friends who were asking me what to check out. It grew and grew from there. I think my best month I had 20,000 unique visitors. Not bad but nothing compared to most of the music sites out there.

Anyway, I am not sure if I am just slowing down temporarily or if this is the beginning of the end. I imagine in some fashion this site will always exist whether it is updated once a month or if I maintain something more active.

Around the same time I got in a funk with making lists and posting fresh content here I lost interest in the radio show as well. I’m trying to work with UtahFM right now to determine if I should take a hiatus, give up my slot or step away altogether. Details to come I am sure. I’ll be away for the next two weeks due to conflicts with some Sundance films I am seeing.

Maybe by then this will all have sorted itself out and I’ll be back into it. Maybe that new Bright Eyes album will have leaked and I can cry myself to sleep listening to it instead of writing whiny articles like this one. Maybe the Lexapro will work.

Anyhow, if you ever want to write an article for LivingEars either as a one time or more consistent deal please let me know. I’d be into covering other art such as photography, film, even video games or tv. Whatever you are an expert in.

In the meantime, check back for irregular posting and maybe some comments on some Sundance films.
