Simian Mobile Disco – New Single

Simian Mobile Disco had one of 2007’s most underated albums with Attack Decay Sustain Release. It still sounds as good today as it did back then.

August 17th will see the release of the band’s second studio album, Temporary Pleasure. The first single has just been released and I am s00o not feeling it.

Check it out:

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge

Compare that to one of the better songs from ADSR:

Simian Mobile Disco - It's The Beat

Or one of the newer songs produced by one of the guys:

      Peaches - More

And just for fun let’s check out a remix they did of a Klaxons song and a remix The Teenagers did of It’s the Beat.

      Klaxons - Magick (SMD Remix)

Simian Mobile Disco - It's The Beat (Teenagers Remix)

Fingers crossed the rest of the album is better than that single.

Voxtrot- Trepanation Party (New Single)

The Voxtrot story thus far: released a couple of really promising EPs early on (2005/06), recorded and released a very un-promising full length via Beggarsgroup (2007)…

2009:…drops new single called Trepanation Party which takes a slightly different approach than their previous work. Includes synth (which doesn’t sound very good), a more dramatic sound and a pretty great vocal. Vocals were always my favorite part of this band so the song works me… just don’t like the keyboard sound.

      Voxtrot - Mothers

Mothers Sisters Daughters & Wives was one of my very favorite songs in 2006. The song is just as great today… still the best thing they’ve ever done.

Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

I know 1901 has been posted everywhere but the song is really great and I want to make sure you’ve heard it.
Love Like a Sunset is one of my favorites from the album; these long sunny songs are right up my alley.
Too Young is from the Lost In Translation soundtrack (possible my favorite film ever, def top 5).

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz! mp3s!!

Editor’s Note:

I blog therefore I am.

I received a notice from the IFPI which I have posted in the comments. I really have no idea why they would report this post to Blogger. The two mp3’s I featured below are widely available on, hype machine, pitchfork etc… This album leaked yesterday but I am not a leak blog. I did not post the full album nor will I ever. I respect the artists I feature here. I hope that you enjoy the music featured and support these artists. Go to a concert, buy a shirt or an album and do whatever it is you do to support music. In additional to monetary support I blog. I do this for the love of music and I am a little annoyed to get reported for offering those mp3s.

I recently wrote about the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album It’s Blitz! (exclamation included!) but at that time there wasn’t any music to share. Well trusty readers, that has changed!

  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero (Link Removed at Request of IFPI)

I am going to include another song in my next podcast (which should be up this week) so I don’t want to go too in depth on my thoughts on the album as a whole just yet but until LivingEars Volume Seven hits the net you can check out the first single (for which that great artwork above comes from) called Zero, and another download that is floating around called Heads Will Roll. Zero I dig, Heads Will Roll isn’t as exciting.

That right there is the excellent cover for the album. Oh, and just in case you were scratching your head after listening to those two songs, this album is different.

Bloc Party – Mercury (Single MP3 Download)

Bloc Party announced last Tuesday that their album Intimacy would be released digitally on Thursday, August 21. Following in the newfound tradition of the short announcement to release date Bloc Party took only one week between wrapping up mixing their album to releasing the thing globally. Don’t know about you but we’re feeling this single… drop a comment and tell us if you dig it or not.
